NOW is the time to write a letter to your Councillors and more importantly, to the planning team at Norfolk County Council.
Write to arrive by Monday 19th December 2011 and quoting planning reference C/7/2011/7020 to:
Norfolk County Council, Environment, Transport and Development County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH.

Norfolk Council Revised Strategy Plan - An update:
Below is the letter sent to our supporters today.

Dear StoPit Member, You may have seen articles in this past week’s papers concerning Norfolk County Council and gravel sites. The situation as far as Haddiscoe is concerned is that the proposal is still on the “Not Acceptable” list. You can see the documents if you go to HERE However it is not time to open the Champagne quite yet. The council’s decision opens another eight-week consultation period and in that time the extractors could put a case for the site to be re-designated as “Acceptable”; and in any case any site would still have to go through the planning permission process. The summary for Haddiscoe is in the South Norfolk Mineral sites, and if you want to see what comments have been made in the past consultation rounds click on “view documents” which is in a big box towards the end of the page and follow the links. At this stage you don’t need to make representations to Norfolk County Council in the new consultation period unless there is something new or something you wish to add that has not already been said. The fact that our pit is still on the “Not Acceptable” list is great news, however it may not stop an application going ahead anyway as they seem minded to do. Watch this space! Yours sincerely Rory Kelsey P.S. I found the following on the South Norfolk planning site and wondered if others knew of it or even went to the public consultation on the 6th April? The link is a PDF document which explains the plans for a Solar Farm on the site of the old Cemex pit on Wiggs Lane (Behind the Village Hall). Have a look at http://wam.south-norfolk.gov.uk/WAM/doc/Correspondence-500829.pdf?extension=.pdf&id=500829&appid=1001&location=VOLUME3&contentType=application/pdf&pageCount=3(it takes a little while to load) |

Norfolk Council confirm Haddiscoe is NOT a preferred site:
Below is the letter sent to our supporters on Monday.
|
14/09/09 Today Norfolk County Council (NCC) passed the papers outlining the next stage in the selection of sites for minerals and waste. The proposed pit in Haddiscoe is on the “Not Acceptable” list. This means it is highly unlikely that permission would be granted for extraction to go ahead on the proposed sites. On behalf of the committee can I say a big thank you to all of you who made your views known through letters, posters, fund raising and supporting StoPit events. It is clear from the report that your views were heard and accepted. However it is not time to open the Champagne quite yet. The council’s decision opens another eight-week consultation period and in that time the extractors could put a case for the site to be re-designated as “Acceptable”; and in any case any site would still have to go through the planning permission process. Your committee feels that the weight of objections mean that the NCC is unlikely to change its mind, especially when the Environment Agency, English Heritage, South Norfolk District Council & The Broads Authority are on our side. I have copied the report conclusion for our pit. If you want to read the complete assessment it is on our website http://stopit.haddiscoe.info/docs/S25C-409090811580.pdf and the full council papers are available on the NCC website at www.norfolk.gov.uk/nmwdf (MIN 25 and WAS 28). Conclusion: MIN 25 clearly has a number of constraints. Taking into account the highways safety worries about the right-turn onto the A143, the impact on the setting of St Mary’s Church, the wider landscape impacts on a very open part of countryside near the Broads, amenity impacts on local residents and the Environment Agency’s concerns about potential disturbance to groundwater flows, it would be inappropriate to allocate this site. StoPit will continue to keep an eye on events and keep you up to date with this next phase of the process which starts on 26th October and should conclude at Christmas. Since our case has been made we will not be making any further representations during this stage. There will then be a third phase in the New Year when the lists should be finalised. Yours sincerely Rory Kelsey |

Norfolk Council announce their proposals for Haddiscoe.
Norfolk County Council have released their papers for their meeting on the 14th September 2009. This meeting is to discuss the Haddiscoe Mineral Extraction (MIN25) and Waste (WAS28) site.
The draft documents propose that the two uses of this site are: NOT acceptable.
This by no way means that we are not going to get a pit etc, but it does mean that should this decision be accepted and maintained throughout the consultation, that this could be the result. Our efforts have made a massive contribution to this proposed decision. Thank-you.
You may read more about this at the NCC web site at
www.norfolk.gov.uk/nmwdf and you can see a snippet of the full
document (discussing only WAS28) by viewing this PDF
HERE (PDF

The AGM will be a members’ only meeting.

At the AGM, members can elect the officers and committee and vote on
a proposed constitution. The constitution defines our aims, sets the rules
for the committee and members, and protects our funds from misuse. The constitution
we are proposing is taken from a model provided by the
Charity Commission and can be seen
HERE (PDF
44kb), the key features are:
- No member can benefit financially from our funds.
- The officers and committee hold post for a year and must stand for election every year at an AGM.
- Should all or part of are funds remain at the winding up of the association members can receive their original subscriptions and donations back on a pro rata basis.
- An AGM will have to decide on the disposal of any surplus.
The committee will recommend that this constitution is adopted by the association at the AGM.
If you are concerned about these proposals and want your voice to be
heard, join StoPit now.
The membership fee of ten pounds could save you thousands on the future
value of your house.
Contact your local representative or why not join at the meeting on the
